How to Apply for PM-KISAN Online

Register or check PM-KISAN farmer status online. eKYC, Aadhaar seeding, village officer route, and common rejection fixes.

PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) sends income support to eligible landholding farmer families through Direct Benefit Transfer. New registrations and corrections usually mix an online form with village-level land verification. This guide covers the citizen portal path and the checks that block money.

Before you register

  1. Confirm you are a landholding farmer family under the scheme rules (not an excluded category).
  2. Keep land records (khata / khatauni / RTC / patta as per your state) ready.
  3. Ensure Aadhaar name matches bank account name closely.
  4. Seed Aadhaar with the bank account used for DBT.

IMPORTANT

Payments fail most often due to Aadhaar-bank mismatch or pending eKYC, not because the portal forgot you. Fix seeding first.

Documents for PM-KISAN registration

0 of 5 ready · saved on this device only

Step 1: Open the official PM-KISAN portal

  1. Visit pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. Use New Farmer Registration / farmer corner options only on this domain.
  3. Select your state and enter Aadhaar for authentication.

Step 2: Fill land and bank details

  1. Enter district, block, village, and survey / khata details exactly as in land records.
  2. Enter bank account and IFSC.
  3. Add family member details if the form asks.
  4. Submit and note the registration / reference number.

Step 3: Complete eKYC

  1. On the same portal, open eKYC services.
  2. Authenticate with OTP or biometrics through authorised centres when OTP eKYC fails.
  3. Wait for status to show success before expecting the next installment.

TIP

If OTP eKYC fails repeatedly, book an offline biometric eKYC camp through the local agriculture / common service centre rather than paying random agents.

Step 4: Track beneficiary status

  1. Use Beneficiary Status with Aadhaar or account number.
  2. Read rejection reasons carefully (land verification pending, eKYC pending, account validation failed).
  3. Visit the local revenue / agriculture office with land proof if verification is pending.

Common problems

  • Land in parent's name while applicant differs without legal transfer
  • Joint land not entered as the portal expects
  • Name mismatch between Aadhaar and bank (use the same spelling)
  • Excluded occupation wrongly marked: correct through grievance on the portal

Land record mismatches

If Bhulekh / state land records still show a deceased parent, finish mutation before expecting PM-KISAN approval in your name. The scheme follows land databases closely. Online registration cannot override an unmutated khata.

Grievance and CSC use

Use the portal grievance menu with a clear note and attachment. Common Service Centres can help with biometric eKYC, but you should leave with a receipt and your own screenshot of status. Paying extra "guarantee fees" does not move instalments faster than correct eKYC and land verification.

Installment calendar and DBT failures

PM-KISAN targets three installments a year when lists are cleared. If neighbours receive credit and you do not, open beneficiary status the same week. Common DBT failure codes point to account validation or Aadhaar seeding. Visit the bank with your Aadhaar and passbook to re-seed, then ask the agriculture office to refresh the record.

Do not open a second registration with a different mobile number to "force" a new entry. Duplicate attempts create more verification mess. Fix the existing registration instead.

Realistic timelines

Most people lose time waiting on OTP issues, unclear scans, or a portal outage rather than on the core form itself. Build a small buffer into your plans. If a visa, loan, or registration appointment depends on this document, start at least one or two weeks earlier than the brochure minimum.

Keep a folder (phone and laptop) with:

  1. Application / acknowledgment PDF
  2. Fee receipt or UTR
  3. Identity proofs used in the upload
  4. Screenshots of status pages with dates visible

When a helpdesk asks for proof, you should be able to send it in one email without hunting through WhatsApp.

If the portal is down

Official sites in India often slow down on weekday evenings and near due dates. Try early morning, switch browsers, or use a less congested network. Prefer the gov.in domain even when a third-party site claims to be faster. If money was debited without an acknowledgment, wait for the stated reconciliation window and contact the listed support channel with the bank reference before you pay again.

After you finish

Update every dependent record that still shows old data: DigiLocker, employer HRMS, bank KYC, insurer, and any travel profile. A finished application that never propagates to the places you actually use will feel unfinished the next time you need it in a hurry.

Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible for PM-KISAN?
Landholding farmer families as defined under the scheme, subject to exclusion categories (for example certain higher-income professionals and institutional landholders). Check the official beneficiary definition on pmkisan.gov.in.
Is online self-registration enough?
Many states still require verification by the local revenue / agriculture officer after online entry. Online form alone does not guarantee installment credit.
Why is eKYC needed?
Aadhaar-based eKYC links the farmer to the DBT payment system. Without successful eKYC, installments often stay pending.
How much is paid?
The scheme design pays Rs 6,000 per year in three installments to eligible farmer families, credited to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account when all checks pass.
