How to Check CBSE Board Exam Results Online

Check CBSE Class 10 and 12 results on results.cbse.nic.in, then get marksheet and migration certificate on DigiLocker with access code steps.

CBSE publishes Class 10 and Class 12 results on the official NIC results site. The same day, digital marksheets and certificates usually appear in DigiLocker for students who complete the CBSE activation flow. This guide covers both: a fast result check, then the DigiLocker path colleges actually want.

What to keep ready

  1. Admit card with roll number, school number, admit card ID, and date of birth
  2. A phone that can receive OTP on the number you will use for DigiLocker
  3. The six-digit DigiLocker access code from school when CBSE issues it
  4. Calm expectations on result day: sites throttle under load

WARNING

Result-day search ads and Telegram "result bots" steal roll numbers and push malware. Use results.cbse.nic.in and digilocker.gov.in only.

Step 1: Open the official CBSE results site

  1. Go to results.cbse.nic.in.
  2. Pick the correct exam link (Class X, Class XII, or other listed exams for that year).
  3. Avoid mirror sites that ask for payment or WhatsApp forwarding to "unlock" marks.

CBSE also posts circulars on cbse.gov.in when dates and DigiLocker instructions change.

Step 2: Enter admit-card details

  1. Type roll number carefully.
  2. Enter school number, date of birth (as the form format asks, often dd/mm/yyyy), and admit card ID when required.
  3. Submit once. Do not hammer refresh every second if the page is slow; wait and retry.
  4. Screenshot or print the result view for your records.

Remember: this screen is immediate information. It is not a substitute for the marksheet PDF in DigiLocker or the physical documents your school distributes.

Step 3: Activate DigiLocker for CBSE documents

  1. Visit the CBSE DigiLocker activation page: cbseservices.digilocker.gov.in/activatecbse.
  2. Choose class (X or XII) as instructed.
  3. Enter school code, roll number, and the six-digit access code from CBSE/school.
  4. Complete mobile OTP verification and finish account confirmation.

If you already use DigiLocker with Aadhaar, this CBSE activation still matters so marksheets land under Issued documents automatically.

New to DigiLocker? Read How to Create a DigiLocker Account first, then return to the CBSE activation link.

Step 4: Download marksheet and migration certificate

  1. Log in at digilocker.gov.in or the official app.
  2. Open Issued documents.
  3. Download the marksheet cum certificate and migration certificate when listed.
  4. Keep offline PDF copies named with your roll number and year.

For some flows, CBSE also points students to results.digilocker.gov.in. Follow the circular for your exam year if the main Issued list is empty right after declaration.

NOTE

Documents pulled into Issued documents from CBSE are the digitally signed copies. Files you only upload to DigiLocker Drive yourself are backups, not board-issued.

Step 5: If the site is down on result day

  1. Retry in off-peak minutes (early morning, late night).
  2. Try another network (mobile data vs home Wi-Fi).
  3. Use DigiLocker if marksheets already pushed even when the NIC form is slow.
  4. Ask the school WhatsApp/official channel for the access code and any CBSE mirror instructions. Prefer school-verified links.

Do not pay a cafe for a "priority result print" that is just the same public page.

Revaluation and revised marksheets

If you apply for verification or re-evaluation, watch CBSE notices for revised results. Updated marksheets are typically pushed again to DigiLocker. Download the new PDF and retire the old file so you do not submit stale marks to a college portal.

Sharing results safely

  1. Share PDFs only through official admission portals or encrypted channels.
  2. Mask roll number in social posts.
  3. Parents helping from another city should use DigiLocker login on a trusted device, not forward OTPs to unknown "counsellors".

Common errors

  • Wrong date-of-birth format on the NIC form
  • Using last year's roll number saved in a notes app
  • Skipping CBSE DigiLocker activation and wondering why Issued documents is empty
  • Trusting a third-party site that shows marks before CBSE's announcement timestamp
  • Confusing DigiLocker Drive uploads with Issued CBSE files during admission

After you have the PDF

  1. Check name spelling and subject codes against the admit card.
  2. Start college application uploads with the DigiLocker PDF where accepted.
  3. Track physical marksheet collection dates from your school.
  4. Keep the migration certificate handy if you are changing boards or universities that ask for it.

If a college portal rejects the DigiLocker PDF, read their help text carefully. Some still want a principal-attested photocopy of the physical marksheet even when DigiLocker is legally valid. Carry both to counselling day so you are not stuck in a queue arguing policy.

Frequently asked questions

Is the online result the original marksheet?
No. The NIC result page is for quick viewing. DigiLocker issued documents and the board-issued marksheet are what colleges and employers treat as official.
Where do I get the DigiLocker access code?
CBSE shares a six-digit access code through school channels around result time. Use it on the CBSE DigiLocker activation page with school code and roll number.
Can I check results without DigiLocker?
Yes. Use results.cbse.nic.in with roll number and the other admit-card fields. Still set up DigiLocker for the digital marksheet and migration certificate.
What if DigiLocker shows no marksheet after results?
Wait a few hours after declaration, confirm you activated with the CBSE access flow, then retry. Schools and DigiLocker support can help if the push is delayed.
